Kent Match? [Aug. 20th, 2006|04:29 am]

Oh Noble, the trains don't look easy.

I thought it was a simple ride from West Malling to Canterbury (*snort* easy? Hour-long!), but now it appears you have to change at Maidstone East and Ashford International... Crap.

But, a ticket to Canterbury East/West means that you get free bus travel around Canterbury.

Not that I know whether we need the East or West.

I shall check that now.

Edit: Oh my God you have a minute to get from the arrived train in Maidstone East to the one leaving for Ashford International, and if you miss it, you have to wait an hour.

*sob*

Canterbury East is the train station you need to go to, but there is eff-all information on the Kent website on how to get to the ground other than by car, and Noble knows what bus services there are in Canterbury and which ones you get. Southampton might have crappy parking and park-and-rides, but ha I don't have a car and they have good shuttle buses from the train station and good information on the website.

Stupid Kent.

Kent's stupid.

Blah.

Edit: I take it back, Kent, you have just as much, if perhaps more information than Hampshire... I just wasn't looking in the right places.

PUBLIC TRANSPORT

Canterbury West 1.5 miles

Kent Match? [Aug. 20th, 2006|03:59 am]

A few weeks ago I decided that I should probably make the most of the fact that my dad lives 20 minutes away from Canterbury.

The chain of events was as follows:

1) Wanted to see Kent play this season (already going to Rose Bowl this year, albeit to see England).
2) Saw a fixture for a 40-overs match on a Sunday in Canterbury in September, against Gloucestershire (with Jon Lewis, Gladiator). Yay!

And this is where I did everything in the wrong order:

3) Asked Lisa if she wanted to come, because I didn't think my dad liked cricket and I didn't want to go on my own.
4) Asked Reece if she wanted to come.
5) Asked my dad if it was possible. He thought I meant me and him. Says yes, we can go, I'll book the tickets after holiday.
6) Panic.
7) Tell Lisa that it might not be possible for her to come.
8) Ask my dad if a friend can come, and he agrees.
9) I ask Reece.
10) Get upset and feel guilty about Baker and Lisa.
11) Tell my dad that actually I was planning on asking if I could go with my friends... but he could still come if he wants to.
12) Get told that he doesn't want to go with my friends and that, actually, it's too far to go for a day's cricket for us girls so it's not really possible.
13) Get very upset (but don't tell anyone).
14) Dither over asking Dad if just me and him can go, or me and him and Emily like we discussed before.
15) Dad goes on holiday with children for two weeks without it being discussed again.

:'(

I want to go see Kent, and I want to go this year. I want to go with Reece because she's my cricket buddy and it just won't be the same watching Parrot Man and Beer Man and The Boy Who Would Be Vegetarian without her. Having a possible cricket match marked in next April or May, when I'm doing my AS levels, actually makes me want to cry. I can't think that far ahead. I need to have something nice during September/October that'll drag me through college.

:(

Damn cricket. My dad doesn't even like it. He lies. And he shouldn't lie, looking as much like Jesus as he does.

Oh oh! *runs off to check West Malling-Canterbury train times*

My one ray of hope in the midst of Chris Read-related agony...

ALEX WURZ HAS GOT A RACING SEAT AGAIN! WITH WILLIAMS!

For those who don't know, Alex Wurz is cooler than a piece of wood.

Nabbed from edania

Take a look at your LJ friend list, then list up to ten things you want to say to ten different LJ friends. Do NOT state who these people are. DO NOT confirm nor deny any “comment speculation”. (I may have failed on this count...)

1. I wish you weren't so damn confusing... or at least, that I could keep up conversations with you without my head hurting.

2. Join my lesbian tribe, it'll solve all your problems. ;)

3. Alexander Wurz is cooler than a plank of wood.

4. You have a great fashion sense, and a lovely smile.

5. I love what we share, I don't want to grow up and leave it behind.

6. *hug* Someone as lovely as you shouldn't end up feeling down like you do.

7. I want to hide everytime I see your brother!

8. *squelch*

9. Running like that won't win you the Olympics, but it's bloody funny.

10. I know you won't see this, but I love you and won't ever leave you.

Six bedrooms for a family of five with one lounge downstairs and Lauren and Mum decide on a spare room. A spare room?! Who the bloody hell ever sleeps over and needs their own room, for crying out loud? Why waste that space when it could quite easily be playroom like we have here? Nobody -- I repeat: nobody -- ever sleeps over. It'd be a show room. What's the point?

Is this prompted by the news that Lauren's getting the playroom sofa while Jake gets the computer? Possibly most probably yes. Am I being selfish and spoilt? No, I'm being realistic. Why waste that space? Seriously. We have two big TVs, right, who gets to have the second one?! Why buy it outright and put it in bloody storage when there's a spare room going begging?

Trust me, we'll need the space once we all get sick of the smell of each other, seeing as there is only one shower in the whole pissing house. One shower and two toilets. Who designed that?! You could have quite easily have seven people plus living there, with one shower. One. No baths or anything. It's a brand new house on a middle class estate, for crying out loud, not like it's been extended or anything! That architect really didn't think that through, did he?

And he had to put it right the middle of Elvetham Heath while I'm right happy just here, thank you very fucking much. I don't want to move. :( Stupid landlord with a stupid taste in curtains kicking us out of his stupid house with three months' notice. Even David Lloyd can't cheer me up right now.

Right, I'm off, my ears are killing me, and there's a very real chance that England will have their second Test rained into a draw. Draw this series and my noble the Aussies will be pissing themselves laughing.
